The show may have been a snooze but Quavo’s wrists were anything but boring.

Quavo is not here to blend in. The rapper and 1/3 of Migos, who you can currently hear on every song released in 2017, has a serious taste for maximalist dressing. We’re fans. The guy piles patterns on top of patterns the way you do toppings on pizza. He can mix neon colors without coming off looking like the host of an educational children’s program. And the guy likes jewelry—lots of jewelry. He’s got grills. He’s got diamond-encrusted pendants, diamond tennis bracelets, diamond rings, probably just loose diamonds in his pockets. And he’s got the best watches. Two ultra balled-out best watches, in fact, that he chose to bring out on last night’s VMAs red carpet.

Wearing a pink satin bomber jacket, leather pants, black and white sneakers, as is the norm at that show now, no shirt, the rapper took his more-is-more man jewelry philosophy blasted off into uncharted territory. We’ve got to hand it to the him; his commitment to symmetry is impressive, and his bravado is unparalleled.

There is a practical reason men have always worn just one watch: you only need one place to check the time. And in2017 most of us wear a watch for style more than anything else. So to double up on timepieces takes what’s already a swerve and makes it a mega swerve. A king-level move for the ages. A move that, let’s be honest, is ridiculous. But it’s a move we’re happy to see on a flex-happy guy like Quavo who’s having one hell of a year.
