And here’s what you need to know to pull it off at home.

Franchise-favorite actor, regular-guy style hero, and every man’s fitspo god Chris Pratt has mastered the subtle art of looking dressed up when he’s kind of dressed down. And last night, at the premiere of Ingrid Goes West (starring fellow Parks and Rec alum Aubrey Plaza) he proved it again by wearing every Bachelorette contestant’s go-to menswear essential (that would be a henley) with a slick black suit jacket. It was classic Pratt—an understated combination of solid menswear pieces tailored to flatter his body—that serves as a visual map of how to pull off the same look at home.

Pratt’s decision to throw on a blazer over his henley is hardly the swerviest style move, but it’s a reliable one that never fails (and we never tire of seeing). The Guardians of the Galaxy star nailed it by finding the best-fitting black blazer he could (or having one he already owned tailored impeccably) and pairing it with that fine-striped henley. The subtle mix adds some much needed visual depth—all black would be too one note—but because both pieces were in the same color family, the combo’s ultimate slimming effects were in effect.

A few weeks back Pratt schooled us all in how a pair of swim trunks should fitin 2017 (hint: they’re shorter than you think). And like that lesson, the big take away from his red carpet cameo is that you don’t have to be rail-thin male model to pull off a henley. It actually works the other way: the bigger you are up top the better you’ll fill out the open placket shirt. So chalk up another style win for Chris Pratt and heed this reminder that sometimes nailing the basics is all you need to look your best.
